Heather Brett-Giles

Green Room Assistant Teacher

4 years at VGM

Hello! My name is Heather Brett-Giles, and I’m so excited to be returning to VGM for my fourth year. I am originally from the east coast, born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Wilmington, DE. I graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Children are my passion, and I’ve always said, “My favorite people are little people!” I have a plethora of experience working with children over the past thirty years as a teacher and in-home childcare provider. I particularly enjoyed working as an assistant teacher in Nashville at a preschool for children with special needs, where I coordinated an inclusive classroom for children with disabilities and typically developing children to learn and work together.

I moved to Libertyville in 2009 and started teaching at Growing with Grace preschool in 2012. I began as an assistant and eventually became the Lead Teacher from 2015 through 2020.

I have 2 sons, Noah (27) and Luke (19), who I cherish and love spending time with. Noah is a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get the chance to come home very often, so I enjoy visiting him whenever I get the opportunity! Luke is attending UNC this fall to study Bio Medical Engineering.

My hobbies are taking walks, meeting friends for coffee, shopping, decluttering and beautifying spaces, listening to live music, and practicing yoga.
