Maggie Gelfand
Rainbow Room 2 Lead Teacher, Rainbow Room 1 Co-teacher
2 years at VGM
Hello, I’m Maggie Gelfand! I am so excited to return to VGM for my second year working in the toddler program with the Rainbow Room team of teachers.
I earned my paraprofessional certificate from Seton Montessori Institute, and my love for the Montessori way of life and learning continues to grow. I am currently immersed in the infant and toddler Montessori teacher certification program.
I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation and have a diverse background. I’ve been a camp counselor, a line therapist for children with autism, a direct support person, and a qualified intellectual disability professional in both home and day training settings. I have completed three levels of American Sign Language, and I enjoy incorporating this as an interactive way to communicate with our little ones!
I have three children: Autumn (9), Alannah (7), and Elliot (4). Being a mom has taught me patience and that each child is a unique individual who learns at their own pace. I’m especially excited for Elliot to continue his Montessori journey in the Green Room this year!
What I love most about Montessori education is how it nurtures a child’s natural curiosity and treats each child as a unique individual. I’m thrilled to bring my experience to help your toddlers build new skills. I bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to create a joyful learning environment in the Rainbow Room. When I am not at VGM, you will probably find me running with my dog, crocheting, or having tea!
